    Default CDG PURGE

I would like to use CDG purge in Auto Cad 2005. Has anyone had any problems with this program (CDG purge) causing any problems with Auto Cad files?
    Thank you

We use it all the time against our IT's wishes. It works great!

Why would your IT not want you to use it? What all does it purge?

    It purges unused junk from your drawing files, like;
    Named lyr filters
    Lyr states
    Registered apps
    Page setups
    Lman states
    Empty groups

It can really cut down on file size.
Especially useful if using imported files from other consultants.

Probably because most IT departments don't want you loading anything on your computer that they don't approve (they don't want to support it). We have a pretty strict policy here, but if I tell them its for AutoCAD, they usually say OK, but we aren't supporting it

So it's not that it's a dangerous program, it's more of an IT ego thing?

I think it's more like a IT management thing. Let a noob set at your machine and install whatever they want for a couple of weeks. Your machine will be hosed, and now you're calling them to come rebuild the machine for the next 4 hours. Uptime is crucial. IT doesn't have time to eval. every 50-cent program and addon that looks neat.

Look at it from both sides. Maybe it's a CAD tech ego thing???

cdg purge is great, but there is another lisp called "layerfilters" that will do the same thing, except for mass deletion of layer manager states and all the other great purge things it does.

we just use it for xpress lmans and layer filters, now we only really need it for lman purge
    Thank you kindly
