SelectSimilar (or aecSelectSimilar) in AutoCAD MEP 2011 is not working correctly when selecting dynamic blocks. It only selects some blocks and not others that are the same.
A direct comparison of LT and MEP, using the same file, shows LT to work properly but MEP does not.
Also, in MEP there is no way to bring up the ‘Select Similar Settings’ dialogue box. In LT with no objects selected, type in ‘selectsimilar’ then ‘se’ to bring the dialogue box up. MEP does not appear to have the ‘se’ option.
Changing the system variable SELECTSIMILARMODE in MEP does not alter, or correct, it’s behaviour.
I am just upgrading to the Revit MEP Suite and I’m new to the full version of AutoCAD. I use this command extensively and find it disappointing that the full version of AutoCAD has some (or any) commands that are missing when coming up from LT.
Is there anyone out there that can check if you can access the ‘Select Similar Settings’ dialogue box in AutoCAD or AutoCAD MEP? I do have a test file that can be forwarded if anyone wants it.
