    Default Cooker hob visibility

I am using revit lt 2014 and am trying to design a kitchen layout. All the objects that are being used are those installed from the autodesk supplied families. The cooker hob is from the speciality equipment family and the counter top is from the casework family. The hob when placed on the counter top shows up in section but not in plan. However if the hob is raised 100 above the countertop it shows up in plan.
What do I have to do to resolve this problem? As a newbie can any advice be given in simplistic terms. Many thanks.

I'm guessing you need to cut a hole in the worktop. Edit the family, save it off and introduce a void in the appropriate place. You can get clever with parameters, but this will get you moving...
