You have to open the Revit file in 3DS Max?
And then export from 3DS Max with materials in some format?
Which format can 3DS Max export with materials included? .fbx? .3ds? .obj? or some other format?
    Hope on someone knowing.

The closest I can find is Sharing Materials and Material Libraries and Autodesk Revit: Managing Materials Libraries (YouTube). If you're working with 3d max then Revit Architecture to 3ds Max Workflow

    Hope something there helps

You can create new material libraries and export that library from a project and bring them in to Max if you want.
I believe in 2014, Adesk consolidated all materials so they were all the same and used the same file format so you could exchange them from one program to another.
That said, you should be able to import your revit model into your Max file (if that's the workflow you're going with) and use what you have From Revit.
The one thing I've heard is that you either want to do all of your materials in Revit or in Max. Don't try to do both as it'll create a ton of extra work.

Are you trying to go from Max to Revit or where are you trying to pull materials from to use them in another program?
