    Default Revit Etiquette

I am starting a list of Revit Etiquette Do's and Don't for users and consultants and am looking for items to add. Things like

    Don't

Edit a type that someone else created and is using without the express permission of its creator/current user.

    Do

Duplicate and rename a type before making changes unless the existing type is actually changing. Notify others/document the new type/change to existing type.

    Do

Be aware of what workset you place items on and verify that the workset is the correct one for the component you are placing.

Do....create a new local every morning or after you have closed out of Revit.
Do...close your local file when you leave your computer
Don't....duplicate a family to modify the original when all you have to do is create a new type.
Don't....modify existing line styles/object styles unless your BIM Manager/Project Lead says OK.
Don't....use Reference planes for temporary alignments and forget to delete them after you're done with them
Do....use detail lines in lieu of reference planes.
Do.....make sure the "Make Local Copy" is checked before opening the Central File
Don't....be that dummy that ignored the above and wound up working in the Central file and screwing up everyone's sync's.
    Do....sync often.
Don't....be the person that syncs for the first time at the end of the day and takes forever to sync.
Do....use Revit Viewer if you just want to explore the model and want to see if something was done.
Don't....be that person that opens Revit to explore the model and doesn't relinquish all when closing.

(I can see this being a long list BTW)
(lol...this post was originally back in June...oops)
