Default Dimension override at a break in the view

I am using Revit Structure 2012 (client requirement)

I need to override a dimension to add a piece of text below the default value to show a secondary dimension.

In the attached picture, the dimension that falls in the break area, I am not able to override. The dimension text above (at the canopy) and below (at the footing) can be edited. The only piece that it will not allow me to edit is that piece right at the break.

Is this a known issue in 2012?

I would suggest over-riding values with fake values is dangerous....but thats a side issue.

If you join the view back up momentarily, it will allow you to edit the text, then you can just break it up again.
Normally Revit wont allow you to put "over-ride" values in at all. This is actually a funtionality I like, because you know everything is modelled to the right dimensions that way.

(Using 2014, I would assume 2012 is the same): You should be able to click on the dimension value ('2400' in your case)
You can add text to "Below:" input which will appear below the dimension

If you need to over ride the dimension, you cant over ride it with a number (well you can, but you shouldn't!)
I generally add 'max', 'min', or 'nom' if I ever need to "over ride" a dimension

I don't have 2012 installed anymore... for obvious reasons but it does fine in 2014 and 2015
Try removing the break, editing the dimension, then breaking again.

Thanks for the tips guys (joining the break to edit and then re-breaking the view)

    Regarding editing a Revit dimension:

I know the original post is a little old but... it sounds like he isn't necessarily "overriding" the dimension but adding an alternate value below the actual dimension. I have done this before and find no harm in it, keeping the original dimension true.
