    Post quantities to excel

    Good morning:
My name is Ernest and I am the CAD manager for a marine contracting company in Cape Coral FL and I am in need of someone that can set up Excel or another program and link it to AutoCAD for quantities and square feet to stream line the biding. It needs to be able to update when the drawing is revised. Does anyone know someone that can do this? (I would love to learn but the boss needs it ASAP)

It's not going to be ASAP -- as the drawings will have to be created so that the info you want can be extracted. The Excel side is only part of what's needed - most of it's going to be in Acad and the way you create the dwg files. Lines? Closed Plines? Blocks & Attributes? it all matters.

I am working on a new DWG template with blocks, smart block that have pricing and sizes for attributes.
Tying it to excel that is something I have trouble with.

the command you'll need is DATAEXTRACTION, If your new template works, that will pull out the data you need.

Would it easier to use another estimating software if so, do you know of one that would do what I need, count bolts, nails, pounds and square feet ect by using the data from my drawing.
