Complex part of the roof

Bonjour,

I'm drawing on REVIT an existing building. Part of the building is, for me, a little too complex to do (see picture attached). Could you give me the tricks to do?

Hi,

It's not that complex, just use a roof by footprint and have only the edge at the ridge with Definies Roof Slope selected. Use a negative angle for the slope.

…or, use Slope Arrow. Roof sketch lines should have no slope applied to them. Roof pitch can be controlled by selecting the slope arrow and setting the slope (or tail height) in the properties window.

Thank you very much for your tips. But, what's happening? Why the walls do not follow the slope of the roof?

Select the walls and hit the Attach Top/Base button in the ribbon, then select the roof. This will cut the top edge of each wall to the underside of the roof. Assuming the roof extends overtop of the walls. If it doesn't you'll need to either extend the roof and then do it.

You could do an in place family with a void that cuts the curved wall.

The two straight walls just edit the sketch of the elevation and draw whatever slope you want. Double Click on the wall to enter sketch mode.

As Titan mentioned, the roof has to extend over the walls for the Attach Top/Base tool to work, but if you want the roof to be inside as you’re showing, draw angled ref plane (to follow roof angle) in the elevation view and use Attach Top/Base tool to attach the walls to the ref plane.

Yes. Why would you want to delete the plane? Just name it, pin it and leave it be

Could do. I have a tendency to delete reference planes as soon as I'm done with them. They can make the model messy pretty quick.

More of an OCD thing for me than anything.
