Number of Revit users worldwide

How many Revit users there are worldwide? ArchiCad estimates 100.000 architect users and Autodesk 120.000.000 users generally.

Of course they would not. Every new Revit user is a lost Acad user. Zero sum game!

The last time Autodesk announced a number was nearly 8 years ago, when they had 200,000. If you are really interested, you could likely get a very rough estimate from Autodesk's investor reports by estimating the revenue from each seat of software and diving that into the numbers provided in the report.

That being stated, the number of seats really doesn't matter anymore. What matters is that in most parts of the world it is either the industry standard or is competing strongly with their industry standard. As a result, it's a good software to learn and/or adopt. That doesn't mean it's the best software for everyone, but it is certainly worth consideration when you consider adopting those BIM skills.

You know, no matter how much deadlines shift and clients request unreasonable last-minute changes, we can all be thankful that we do not have a job where we have to produce 184-page documents dense with unreadable legalese, infinitely detailed accounting data, and tons of appendices!

What is incredibly sad is that I read stuff like that for fun! If you take the time to comprehend the overall numbers tossed around, you not only get a feel for the health of our industries, but also the products being used across our industries.

Also, Autodesk tends to provide insight to their overall decision making in these reports, instead of just being the "necessary evil" of the industry. They need to educated investors on their decisions and once you read about them in cold, hard facts you tend to appreciate (and sometimes question) their business decisions more than you normally would.

In short: I know about this document... because I've read it and have been reading them for several years.
