Hello again everyone... it's been a while!
I'm working on a curtain-system facade where the majority of panels are rectangular and can host custom curtainwall panels without issue. However, due to the building geometry, there are a number of 'cut' panels that have 3, 4 or 5 sides.
I have built an adaptive component to 'fix' these panels, and they work fine (ie, can be manually placed at the atypical locations).
However, within the adaptive components I need to nest a face-based family to represent the point-supported structural tieback. I can place the structural ties, but I cannot control where they occur. When I lock them to the desired position, they 'break' the family and all instances within my Project File are deleted. In the attached family I have inset a series of reference lines 100mm from the edge of the glass panel. I can align the struts to these lines but they don't stick. If I lock them... the panel breaks. I've also added points at the ends of these reference lines... but same story if I lock the struts to the endpoints. It breaks in the Project.
I would like to position the 3x struts 100mm inset from the panel edges. Can anyone please help?
I've attached three files:
- ADAPTIVE_markup.jpg - This shows where the struts should be located.
- ADAPTIVE_application.jph - This shows how the struts fly off into space in the model.
- ADAPTIVE_3_point.rfa - This is the family.

Many, many thanks for anyone who has time to look, comment or otherwise help!
