Unhappy Easy/Better way to convert 3D AutoCAD or REVIT to a STEP file?

This is a multiplatform question (Revit or AutoCAD to STEP file)

Similar to THIS THREAD, I have a question about converting a Revit Model and/or AutoCAD 3D model to STEP (stp) file.

Currently working on a project in REVIT where we need to provide STEP files for coordination to our outside design partners.
Our current procedure is to export the Revit files to 3D AutoCAD files, open them up in Inventor and convert to STEP files.

This sort of works, but some of the converted models come into Inventor with issues, things not in the right places, extra stuff floating around, etc.
Also, we have one model (mechanical) that takes hours and hours just to open in Inventor.

Does anyone have a better way or know any tricks to pull this off easier or better?

    Thanks in advance

Default Re: Easy/Better way to convert 3D AutoCAD or REVIT to a STEP file?

    Update..

I did find that it works better if, while in Revit, export to an SAT file (with solids which what I need) and then opening that with Inventor, it works much better and faster. And then exporting that file to an STP file works for my purposes.
