Default drawing & xref management for architectural floor plans - strategies?

I have used autocad for about 8 years with a civil engineering firm, and am very good with my .dwg/layer/xref management when it comes to surveys, existing conditions, and proposed work.

However I am brand new to the world of architectural layouts and am fairly certain there is room for improvement in the office i just started at to improve workflow and organization. There will be situation where the same floor plan is shown with different levels of detail (proposed floor plan vs proposed reflected ceiling plan).

The work is mostly residential, multiple floor plans, interior/exterior elevations, and details.

What does your file organization look like?
What do you xref vs. make blocks?
Does every floor plan get its own file?
How do you construct/organize elevations within model space?
    what dont you xref?
Where do you add your notations?
    etc. etc.

    Thanks for any tips/strategies!
