Default Separate Family Browser & number of families in use

Summary: Separate family browser from project browser.
Add a number beside each family type to show how many families are in use.

Description: The add ins for separate family browsers cost $. Surely Autodesk can program a separate family browser dialogue in the same format as is.

It seems lazy that Autodesk has enabled secondary programmers to make separate family dialogues without providing a native Revit form.
The add-ins out there are cumbersome & complex in format with images & tabs. Just a simple tree format in a separate dialogue is all that we need. To be able to quickly scroll up/down the family tree without losing your location in the view list.

A useful addition might be a number beside each family type to indicate the number of that type in use in the project. This will help with family management greatly.

I agree this functionality would be helpful and useful but in the interim you can use a multi-category schedule to do what you want. Include the following parameters : Category, Family: Type: Count. Set to sort by Category, Family and type. Turn off 'Itemize Every Instance' and calculate totals. The one drawback (or possibly a benefit depending on your point of view) is that only families used in the project will be listed not all families present in the project.
