    Default Linking to Excel

I am wondering if it is possible to link to an Excel spreadsheet in AUTOCad 2015 WITHOUT it being a table.

I am working on a seating chart for my company. We are a large office and have little "You are Here" maps at the end of each row of cubicals and I would like to be able to link my Excel spreadsheet with all the employee names and cubical numbers to the overall floor plan.

    Thanks in advance

This is easly accomplished by pasting the link as an OLE object into your drawing.

With the spreadsheet open, select the cells you want and copy (ctrl+c) them to the Windows clipboard. In your AutoCAD drawing, use PASTESPEC. In the Paste Special dialog box, select Paste Link and on the next page select Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet. Continue to follow the prompts to complete the operation.

    Thomas,

I have been trying to find that for a long time, but I haven't been able to find anything. There are 3rd party softwares out there that will accomplish what you are looking for. Just a matter of if the price is worth what you are trying to accomplish. There are ways of doing what you want by extracting the information, but if you are looking for what I am, you want a link between the two that when the Excel sheet is updated, the drawing is updated automatically which I haven't been able to find within Autocad itself.
