    Default Dimension layer

    Summary: Set dimensions to specified layer automatically!

    Description: When dimension icon is selected automatically place it on a specific layer such as S-Dimensions in my case.

    AEC Dimensions are layer keyed and a layer for that key can be specified. A tool palette tool can be used to specify a different layer key, or to override one or more of the layer's descriptive fields, if you are using a layer standard, and that standard defines such fields.

    As for AutoCAD dimensions, you can create a tool palette tool that creates an AutoCAD dimension and has a layer key. If you want a ribbon tool that does that, you can create the tool palette tool and then create a ribbon tool that runs the tool palette tool. The latter process is described in this blog article, if you are interested.

    there are a number of ways to do this

    You can create a pallet tool that brings the dimensions in on the correct layer
    also as mentioned before... You can Layer key it... You can do a LISP for it...
