Summary: Yes, I know we all design in Revit, but it would be great if you could Start this
"MODE", by defining a window/area in plan. Then automatically a section and a 3D view defining this area both pop up into a pre-arranged tile mode (similar to 3Ds Max) up so you can truly Design and coordinate in 3D.
Description: So many people are still using revit like 2D autocad. These people still work 99% of the time in plan views. We have been trying to have all our engineers work with a section and 3D view open (3D view oriented to the section with all other disciplines turned on) so as we design, it is coordinated with other trades.
View templates help us easily turn on the other disciplines, but the time it takes to create a section, create a 3D view, orient the 3D view to the section, Tile the views, then move the tiled views into an arrangement that makes sense takes way too long and deters our engineers from using this workflow.
Call it Coordination or Design mode, just click on this mode, drag a window in plan and boom, 3 or 4 windows pop open, already tiled (and working on dual monitors correctly). Your plan, a section (or 2 at 90deg to each other-front and left view maybe) and a 3D view cut to the area you defined in plan. You can have an option checkbox to only include the level you are working on, or to show levels 1-5 or 7-12 etc. These views can be temporary, Revit does not have to actually create views in the browser, just show you the information in plan, section and 3D. A set of 3 or 4 pre-defined options for the view layouts would also be great (large 3D view on monitor 2, section and plan tiled on the other monitor, or large plan with two sections at 90 degrees and plan all on one monitor etc would be great).
