    Default Migrating 2014 CUIx File

I want to learn correct or best method for saving a CUIX file from one version (2014C3D) and then incorporating it in to new version (2015 C3D).

We don't edit the stock CUIX, but rather keep custom items in a separate menu file (Company.cuix)
Then in the event of software or hardware changes, all we have to do is load the "company.cuix" (as a partial menu).
Never had any issues with version changes.

If you _have_ modified your main menu (C3D.CUIX, ACAD.CUIX, etc) then I'll let someone else chime in and let's see what they do.

I do modify toolbars in the ACADCUIX and create a new workspace. So I am looking to be able to select my workspace in 2015.

Let me add this. I have simply overwritten the default Civil 3d "support"" directory in the past but one reason for hesitation now is I am wondering if

/.../.../2014/support would be any different than /.../.../2015/support?

That ^^^^^ is exactly why we do not modify any stock OOTB files.
You never know when they are going to change, add, or remove something.
So we just do not mix anything in with the stock files.
If we want to overwrite something (such as the PGP file) we have our own copy in a location that is at the top of the support file search path so it gets found/used.

Not saying one way is right or wrong, but that is what works for us.

Gotta start by asking a moderator to move this thread to http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay....oCAD-CUI-Menus

Hard to imagine you've "overwritten the default Civil 3d "support"" directory in the past" and it worked. You should spend some time reading Thread: Notes on the philosophy of CUI from the Forum above.

Meaningless text so I can make this post.

I first learned about this topic from an Autodesk University 2009 course by Robert Bell:

The course handout (PDF) can be found here: AU222-1 - A Working Enterprise CUI in Front of Your Eyes, and here's a link for the course video.

    Cheers

Ok guys. I have done the reading. I have not found anything that walks me through how I can transfer my 2014 Workspace in to 2015 workspace.

Not sure what you've read so far, I presume at least the above linked AU course, which goes into how to setup and manage your customizations... Once you've culled the customized components from your OOTB Main CUI.

How to customize workspaces is a simple matter of consulting the help (scroll down).

That said, do be mindful that when you transfer a workspace from one CUI to another, you bring _everything_ associated with that workspace from the source CUI, to the destination CUI.
