Default PE Names and Numbers for title block?

AS Some of you are familiar with, we need to show the Engineers name and PE Number in each Drawing.
We use the same title block for both Mechanical and Electrical, so we have 2 different PE Names, 1 for the Elecs and 1 for the Mechs.
(The title block is xreffed into our sheets)

In the past we have put the Names on Separate layers in the titleblock.
Current Practices dictate we place Text in each sheet.

Is there a better way of doing this that I may be missing?
We do use sheet sets but there is no subset properties.

    Thanks,
    Andre

We use Sheet Set Manager (SSM) to populate the engineer's name & certification (via Fields within attributed title blocks), using SSM Custom Properties... This allows us to change any title block content (both project wide, or per sheet, including revision descriptions, etc.) via SSM once, and re-plot without opening a single drawing.

Not sure if that's a viable option for you, as it does require some prior planning.

    Cheers

We use SSM for many things. A field however, would only read one value.
If I had my druthers, We would have a Subset Custom Property of "Engineer".
The electrical subset would have a value "John Smith" and the mechanical "Joe Brown".

so if the subset was mechanical it would read Joe Brown
if the subset was electrical it would read John Smith

the way I handle that is have a custom Sheet Property for "Registered Professiona" and "Registration No". The default for new sheets would be the signer of the majority of the sheets, generally the project engineer/manager.

As other signers get added, their individual sheet properties get edited to reflect their name, credentials, and number
