Default Session 3, Part B: Conduit and Cable Tray Takeoffs with Revit MEP 2012

    Instructors: Patrick Olson, Sturgeon Electric

Class Description: Revit MEP 2011 was an excellent release; two of the major tools in this release were the Conduit and cable tray tools. And now with 2012 they have added some additional functions for these tools to make modeling these systems that much easier. With these tools, Autodesk gave us two different system families for conduit, conduit with fittings, and conduit without fittings. The cable tray tool has similar system families. In this class, we will discover the major differences between the two system families and how this information can be utilized with schedules. One of the schedules we will look at is doing a takeoff based off of NECA (National Electrical Contractor Association) standards and see how the conduit tool can help expedite not only modeling conduit runs but also doing takeoffs in lengths of conduit with bends, without bends, including wire, or not including wire. Incorporate all of this information into the conduit schedule, or conduit run schedule using tools such as project parameters, and formulas.
