Wood hatch pattern looks good in section, bad in plan

Hello,

I am encountering an issue where the various wood patterns in the project look correct in section but not in plan. The patterns are a 'drafting' type and it seems to only be a problem affecting the various wood patterns, but some other custom/imported hatch patterns look correct regardless of view orientation. Rotating the detail item/filled region in plan does not change anything. This is a really frustrating issue. Can anyone help?

I've attached two images of a specific detail item where the hatch appears incorrectly (although this affects any filled region using the hatch) and I've also attached the hatch pattern.
