cant constrain family! please help

If somebody could please help I would greatly appreciate.

I have a lighting fixture which has an adjustable suspension cable with multiple light sources as nested families. How can I make everything move together!
What am I doing wrong?

You should take the actual fixture, place it into a separate family, and then load it back into this family. It is much easier to control it that way, it will be very easy to align it and lock it to your control points and lines.
