Default Swept Blend with Spline Path

I´ve been trying to make a sweep using spline path. I haven´t been able to create the top of the pilaster (just the sweep under the "ball", see image).

I want a straight back, sweeps front, left and right.

    Is it even possible?

    Thanks in advance

    Magnus

What would the plan views look like at top and bottom? It's not clear on the picture if the top and bottom are rectangles or half ellipses. Please clarify.

I think he wants it to be the base of the piece in the picture to the side, did you see that?

Ah, OK, it looks like the base should be a rectangle, the top is similar to a half ellipse, and the side view is a curve for all three elevations.

Yes, the top is a half ellipse and bottom a rectangle. I should have colored them so you could see better.

I haven´t found a good solution yet. Did a "plain" Blend between them and then void cuts with the spline path on front and both side. Did not look good.
Coming from machine CAD I feel that there are to many limitations or have I missed something in the family editor?

Well, I think this kind of shape is not possible as a simple swept solid, because of the curvature of the sides. There are two options: option 1 is to simplify the geometry, and show the actual geometry as a detail. The other option is to model it as it is, but that requires splines and reference points with the generic adaptive template. Notice that I don't mean that the family is adaptive, only that it is made with the adaptive template, using reference splines, lines, points, and surfaces. It takes more time but you obtain the correct shape. Here where I work, we have to do these kind of forms frequently, due to the nature of our projects.

(I made an example, and I tried to upload an image and a family file, but for some reason I had trouble with the "Manage Attachments" dialog box. It showed me an exclamation symbol for each file, and did not upload my files. )

Can you not make it out from independent forms?

Probably, but that would be too many pieces, and probably some voids. The other alternative suggested in my post above gets the object done as one single piece, and without voids.
