Revit DWG export layer settings.

I decided to set up our export layers so that DWG's would have the company layer convention.
I spent all day renaming layers and setting over-rides. I was doing all this in the template file.

Today, I open up the template file, go to my export settings to finish up what I was doing...
and they have all reset to the default setting.

How the hell am I supposed to make lasting changes to this export list?
This is one of the least covered topics on Revit, there's virtually no information on it...

Pretty frustrating, because I basically did a day of really tedious <expletive deleted> and it was all for nothing.

You need to make sure you create a new Export Set-up. You cannot save settings to the "in session" set-up for longer than that session. You also need to use the set up once. After you create the set up just export a blank DWG, and save your .rte. I would run through the workflow with a very minor change first. You can also transfer you set-up from the template into other projects using transfer project standards, "DWG/DWF Export Setup Settings"
