best practices to duplicate a renaming all the parts/assemblies

Hi all, I don't use Inventor myself but I'm seeking help for my colleagues.

We have a project, say "A1" that has a lot (100+) of assemblies and parts named after a coding convention and they start with the project name (i. e "A1WEA-01"). each assembly/part has its own subfolder with the same name in the project folder.
We need to duplicate the entire project and create projects "A2", "A3", "A4", renaming all the parts/assemblies (i.e. "A2WEA-01") and obviously update all the references.

We don't use Vault, and Design assistant is of little help (= no automatic way to do a search and replace). iLogic copy design and usertool's design copy are of no use here.

Has anyone of you had the same problem and how did you solve it?

To be honest...Vault IS your best answer to this if you do not like Design Assistant.

You could scour the App Exchange store to see if there is a Copy Design tool out there, but its not likely.

I have clients that use Vault ONLY for this purpose and nothing else, it doesn't cost you anything but setup time since it is free. Put the Server and Client on one workstation and check in your files, perform a copy design, and then check them out. Leave them in there if you want too, but Vault does all the renaming and internal reference repair necessary.
