Default "Save As AutoCAD Drawing" - save to Object Data not just XDATA.

Summary: Only XDATA is retained when "Saving As AutoCAD Drawing" - Task Pane -] Maps -] Save As AutoCAD Drawing..

Description: Attaching FDO Based Vector data such as SDF, SHP, SQL Server and Oracle Spatial, the associated attributes can only be saved as XDATA.

The Save As AutoCAD Drawing should also have Object Data option.

Product and Feature: AutoCAD Civil 3D - Map 3D

    I respectfully disagree.

Object Data is a function of Map 3D, as inherited by Civil 3D (which is built on top of Map 3D, which is built on top of vanilla AutoCAD); this is one of the myriad reasons the import of GIS data is NOT available to vanilla AutoCAD.

Ah, but how about sharing with other users? I have many customers with 300+ layers coming from Oracle or SQL Server. How to share outside of the company?
This should at least be an option.

Or at least store the XDATA as EED format?

Or have a utility to bring the XDATA into Object Data after the fact.

There are a thousand Business Cases to move from Enterprise AutoCAD Map 3D (FDO) to plain AutoCAD Map with Object Data.

Object Data is not a 'vanilla' feature, so the developer's choices are to either go with XDATA, drop the Object Data completely, or throw together an "ExportToMap3D" feature. The latter would have a limited enough market that a 3rd party may want to jump in and provide a version -- but i would never expect Adesk to generate that functionality out of the box.

You're conveniently disregarding the fact that you can already share your Object Data-enabled drawing with others outside of the company - anyone with Map or Civil 3D, that is.
