Post Phasing Graphic Override vs. Hidden line defaut

I have existing ductwork that runs under new ductwork. The portion of existing ductwork that is under the new ductwork should be a hidden line, but it is not. The line does break indicating it is underneath, but it is not hidden. If I were to change the underneath ductwork to new, it does show has hidden. The phase graphics override settings are the same in regard to line style (line weight is different) so I am not sure what is driving the change in line style. I have inserted screen shots of the different scenarios and of the settings.

By default, the Graphic Override settings for "existing" elements is set to a Continuous Line Pattern. If you remove the Line Pattern override, then the Hidden Line will be visible.

Yes, but the Graphic Override settings for "new" elements is also set to a Continuous Line Pattern, yet the new duct that is hidden shows up in hidden line. Am I misinterpreting something?

If you look under the Phase Filter tab, you will likely see that, according the View's Phase Filter, New elements are set to display "By Category" whereas the Existing elements are set to "Overridden".

You are correct! Now I have to figure out if I can work around the phase filters to accomplish what I need and not affect the other trades.

The screenshots I included are a fair representation of our office standard. New work (blue) is bolder so that is stands out from existing. That is where the phase filter forces existing to a line weight of 1 and continuous. I will have to think about this. Thanks for your help!

    Some suggestions:
    1. New line weight defined at Object Styles.
    2. Existing line weight defined at Phase Graphic Override.
    3. Demo line pattern defined at Phase Graphic Override.
    4. Hidden line defined at Mechanical Settings.
