    Default Upgrading Revit

I hope this is the best section for this.

We have been working on Revit 2014, we just started a new project on 2015. How do people usually deal with upgrading their libraries? I have seen some batch upgrade utilities is this the best way? Do you just maintain two libraries? This seems redundant but given the zero back compatibility necessary.

Families that are loaded into a project already are upgraded too, during the upgrade. If you load new families from the 2014 library then they will be upgraded during the loading process. This means you can technically leave your own content in 2014 format and let projects upgrade them as they are used on new version projects.

Firms with full time support staff usually upgrade their library to the latest version but maintain the older version for any projects that stay in that version until they are completed. I call that aggressive management while what I wrote about first is more passive. There are nice new features available for creating families in 2015 so it's a reason to upgrade them, so you can take advantage of them. There is a free Bulk Family Upgrader tool available via the Autodesk Exchange Apps site.
