Older families won't show preview in Open or Load dialog boxes

I'm really starting to get sick of this. It seems that families which haven't been saved in the past couple of years or so will not display a preview in the Open or Load dialog boxes, which means MOST families in our company library won't show anything. If I want to see previews of all the families, I have to go to a Windows Explorer window, browse the library there, and drag the family into the Revit window to load it.

I thought this issue was a bug that had been fixed. Is that not the case?

I tested to manually load families but couldn't replicate... but we are also using Family Browser so no need for that feature
