    Default rendering problem

There is a gray sheet along level 1(Basement -5'-5"). Nothing below level 1(Basement -5'-5") will raytrace for some reason. I've tried looking for imported objects on level 1 but there's nothing there that would cause this problem. Everything renders fine in shaded view. Please let me know how I can resolve this.

If you have used the shading/shadow feature and have use it to set time of day , etc. you
will have to uncheck the box in render Settings up near the left hand corner.

Then check to see if you have ground plane checked under environment and uncheck this.

    Now try a rendering.

It sounds as though you have a ground plane set.

Under Rendering > Settings > Environment > uncheck the groundplane box.
