    Default Truss Family

    Hi,

    I need to setup a truss family that is made up of multiple segment lengths; I would ultimately want the segment to control the overall length.

    1200,1200 | 1500,1500,1500,1500 | 1500,1500 || 1500,1500 | 1500,1500,1500,1500 | 1200,1200

    | = Common Segment

    || = Centerline of Family

    what would be the best method of creating this type of family, keeping in mind that the 1200 and 1500 might change to 1800 and 1500 or even 1600.

    Ok, not really enough detail of what you need here for me to offer much help. Have you done much family creation at all? I personally found trusses to be one of the more mind bending ones to try and work with, because you can set so many constraints with them. If the over all length is a function of the segment length, then you can work this into your family by adding a parameter "Total Length", also addind a parameter that determines the "Segment Length" (ie adding a label to the dimension of the segment length), then using something like this: (in the parameters box) Total Length = Segment Length*5 (or whatever your function of the segment length is..) if you want to reference other labels/parameters in your family you need to use exactly the same name including caps etc, it needs to be EXACTLY the same or it wont recall that label in the calculation. Other than that it's hard to give you much more help than that without more info.
