Default Converting a SketchUp file to a schedulable Revit Family

    Hi,

It's 3 am, I'm on a deadline, and I found the faucet I want to spec. Trouble is, it's only in a SketchUp format:

I downloaded the .SKP file, I brought it in to my Revit project as an in-place mass. I need to tag it and schedule it as a plumbing fixture. Trouble is, it won't let me change the category to anything other than a mass. Really?

I've hit a roadblock against what seems to me ought to be really simple. Anyone have a quick, simple solution? This is not an easy object to re-model due to its complex shape.

    Thanks,
    Derek

Families created in the mass category can't be changed to any other object category and families created as any other object category can't be changed to a mass.
Import the skp file into a generic model template and the convert to a plumbing fixture and you'll be fine. You can also just bring it into a plumbing fixture template but it might have a bunch of default stuff you probably don't need.

Thanks Dimitri! For some reason I thought I couldn't import a SketchUp family directly into Revit 2014 without first converting it to a DWG. Is this a new thing for 2014? Anyway, it's scheduling now as a plumbing fixture and I'm going to finally go to bed. Thx for the help!

What timing!!!! Just this morning I looked up loading a skp file into Revit, after learning that KraftMaid kitchen cabinets have been posted as full 3D on Google 3D warehouse!
