    Default View Range Linked file

I know there are a million threads everywhere on view range, but I haven't been able to figure the one out!

We have the architectural revit model linked into our mechanical drawings. We are doing design work. So I have the view range set to 0' level above, and 0' current level. But I need to have the cut plane set up around 9' to show our duct work, but when the architect printed they have the cut plan set at 7', this leads our drawings to look different. This is all for a CD set to be combined so i need the background to be the exact same.

I'm not sure what to do here. After the CD set we will be detailing so I need to leave the duct work in the correct place. Is there a way to basically not use cut plan and just show EVERYTHING between upper and lower?

what are you avoiding by moving your cut plane up to 9'? background items? mechanically, it should look pretty much the same as if it's cut at 7'. if the ceiling is blocking your ductwork, try setting yours or the linked architectural ceiling category to transparent, that may help

changing the discipline effects what the cut plane and view range see.
Architectural only sees elements below the cut plane.
Mechanical sees elements within the top and bottom. The cut plane only effects Architectural elements...well and plumbing fixtures, plumbing accessories, but anyway.
I guess I don't understand why the Architect wants to print your work from their plans for a CD set.
    Well regardless, Hope that helps.

When they link your model in, instead of using "By Host View" in VG to see your ductwork, they can use "By Linked View" and pick a view that you have prepped for them, which is identical to the view you placed on the sheet but with no annotations. Your Mech view, in their model, will now maintain it's view range regardless of their view range.
