    Default Linework Coding Methods

We've just started using Civil 3D 2015. Up to now, our survey field crews have been coding linework using special codes (B, E, PC, PT, etc.) before the desc. key code itself. Everything I see in C3D shows special codes after desc. key codes.
Is there a way to make it read the special code first?

I don't have an answer. However, I would recommend you try importing from one of your previous projects in the format your crews currently code. If your Figure Prefix / Linework Code Sets are configured, and it does not import as desired, then you find out your answer. It'll take some time to do this test if everything is not setup, but like most things in Civil 3D, those things will need to be explored and adjusted to fit your style of use with the software. Unfortunately, this portion of the software may require your methods to change.

Please let us know how it works and good luck.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

That's one of the many items I have complained to AutoDesk about for years, but the general reply has been; "Live with it." You need to remember they have little interest in supporting the Survey market and having the command after is how the programers like it.

I code every day 500 -1000 points a day and it draws it 99% of the time.
I code are better after the feature code. Easier to find and less typing.

    TC B
    TC
    TC BC
    TC POC

Starting a on a curve or maybe it is because I never use e for END.
    Connecting 4 or 5 codes
The real PROBLEM IS THE DATACOLLECTOR . THE DESCRIPTION FEILD IS LIMITED IN LENGHT. SO IF U HAVE 3 codes and the are like. TC POC FL POC TOW B. OR TC B GB1 B GB2 B TOW AND THEN IF U WANT TO DO THE OFSETS TOO. THE DATACOLLECTOR WILL NOT LET U TYPE IN. SO CODING IN A LIMITED FIELD IS MORE CHALLENGING. BECAUSE U COULD CODE 60 CHARACTERS IN THE FIELD., BUT THE DATA COLLECTOR IS 16 -20 characters...

I have been doing autoline work since 1991 when I wrote my own program for acad 12 / DCA.
Over it is a real time saver. Yes it needs work but it will save u time and notes. Depends again on DATACOLLECTOR.
