Delete Color Fill Legend

How do you get rid of a name in the color fill legend if you no longer need it? Have tried a few things to no avail.

Purge Unused...under Detail Items (if I'm understanding your question). If it's not on that list, it's being used in the project....

I believe that you can click on the legend, go to properties, edit the data portion of the schedule and delete the row that contains the name that you want to get rid of.
