Default Disconnecting a Steel column from a foundation base

Hello I am sure this question has been asked a few times, but I will ask it anyway.

I have a foundation base that I need to sink a steel column in to, however whenever I try to do this the Foundation is moved at the same time as the column. I have tried drawing a reference plane and locking the foundation to it and have also tried to detach the column from the base all to no avail. Does anyone have the solution to what I am hoping is a very simple problem.

    Many thanks

Aligning and locking to the ref plane or level should work. The trick is, when aligning, the ref plane or level cannot be above the bottom of the column, otherwise the footing will snap to the column instead of ref plane/level.

Thank you for the reply, after a little bit of re-modeling in the family, got it to work by locking the foundation to a reference plane

I would try using model-in-place foundation for this.

I agree, model in place footing will remove some of this issue, by combining that with the above workflow of modelling on and locking to a "footing reference plane" will solve this issue.
