I'm modeling a building with several steel beams of various sizes, all encased in concrete.
I am fairly new at creating families but I would prefer to create a single family with both elements included.
Any suggestions on how to best go about this?

I'm sure there's a better way, and maybe others have a better suggestion for a more official solution...
But what I've done for this situation is simply place a concrete beam on top / over a steel beam.
I'm not sure what it does for your beam count etc, but I named the concrete beam(s) something logical and used standard steel beams inside.
So if you use labels, just label the concrete beams..

Thanks for the reply!
Just to be clear, you're saying you placed two separate beam in the project?
Yes, I placed a steel beam and then placed a concrete beam over it.
Depending on the case, you will only "see" the steel beam in section.
I have had a situation where the bottom steel flange is exposed so the bottom of the concrete beam and the bottom of the steel beam are at the same elevation.
Thanks, it seems to be working. Not quite what I was hoping for but it will due.
