Default datalinked xls file always appears "unreferenced"

    Hi gang,

I've got a drawing in which, when I create a datalink to an xlsx file (no errors in this part of the process) the xlsx file shows "unreferenced" in the xref manager.

I cannot then go on to create a table using this datatlink. I go through the process (I can see and select the datalink in the table dialog box) but no table appears, no errors, nada.

There are other datalinks in the drawing with their xlsx files in the same folder as the one I can't link to and they work fine.

    • I have created this drawing form scratch - no change
    • I have exported the xlsx file as a csv and then imported that data in a new xlsx file - no change
    • Moved all files to local folders in case something was up there - no change
    • Purged audited recovered, etc - no change.

I think I may very well be going nuts.

    Any help is appreciated.

Default Re: datalinked xls file always appears "unreferenced"

Oddly enough, if I select the cells I need in Excel and press Ctrl+C and then use the PASTESPEC command to paste that info as a link, made of AutoCAD objects, it creates the data link successfully.

I can even rename it to something intuitive and create another table using that datatlink (the one that is created using PASTESPEC is the wrong style).

So... to recap, in some situations, I can create datalinks properly and in other situations, I can't, but AutoCAD can.

    Le Sigh.
