Default hatching around blocks leaves a mess

When i hatch around a block, the hatch invades the block. If I trim the hatch from inside the block the hatch does mysterious things like removing the hatch from outside the block or switch the location of the hatch inside the block. What is causing this and how am I to fix it or stop it from happening in the first place. Please advise as soon as possible, Thanks!

When possible, always create a closed polyline that you can later successfully hatch about 99.9% of the time.

Will it take some time to create the polylines? Yes.
But how much time are you wasting trying to get the "Pick Point" method to work out?

Now having said that, I have not seen the geometry you are working with. Maybe it's a mess with gaps and overshoots, etc. -or- maybe it's nice and tight and AutoCAD LT is just working poorly with it (as it's known to do...)
So, I can't really answer this -> "how am I to fix it or stop it from happening" other than to say start with a closed polyline.

In as much as you gave input, Thank you, it wasn't very helpful. The most useful take away was, "... AutoCAD LT is just working poorly with it (as it's known to do...)". Anyone else have any thoughts or suggestions?

This is the important take-away should have been...
"When possible, always create a closed polyline that you can later successfully hatch about 99.9% of the time"

You can always make a trial run with BPOLY command, and see if that demonstrates a closed boundary. But unless you have a known closed boundary, hatch can be expected to be unreliable, regardless of LT or not LT

I believe this is the answer, "...unless you have a known closed boundary...". Thank you!
