Thread: Seeking help w/a geometrically "fudged" shape...

    All:

    I'm attempting to model a standing-seam metal roof over a balcony. Please have a look at the attached jpg [SampleMetalRoofs.jpg] and my first and second attempts.

    As you can see, this shape is a non-rational geometric form [-- would that qualify as a NURB?]. So far I've tried a 90º rotated solid at the ends with a simple extrusion between. The second attempt is a perimeter sweep. What I really need is a way to marry the two.

    Please help.

    Here's a family to take apart and make how you want. I used a sweep for the main canopy element, the standing seam bits are extrusions.

    Run the sweep path from the top of the canopy and return it by a small amount so it wont show on the drawing but will form the geometry you are looking for..
