Default Is there any useful software which helps in town planning?

I work in an architectural company which provides services of town planning, such as map, land survey, civil and many others.

Thus, i want to know about any CAD or ESRI like software and how to use it, which helps in making decision in town planning.
We've got extra licenses and computers so that's not a problem.

Look forward for your best suggestion and solution. Thank you.

On the Autodesk side, Map3d and Civil3D come to mind for CAD drawings. There's also Infraworks -- which is more of a visualization/planning/presentation tool. It looks pretty incoherent IMO.

ESRI has it's own suite of products, pretty well suited to the planning and analysis side, but AFAIK, not so much regarding survey or down-n-dirty civil design. Their CityEngine desktop software looks very interesting. http://www.esri.com/software/cityengine
