Default Individual Pipe Fitting "Use annotation scale" default

Is there a way to have the "Use Annotation Scale" option selected in the mechanical settings, But have some pipe fitting families default to not use annotation scale?

The issue: Our pipe transition families (and P-trap, both out of the box) cause some workflow issues with "Use annotation scale" selected. They appear longer than they are and make it difficult to select the pipe in tight situations. I want to be able to set fittings like these to come in with "Use annotation scale" de-selected while the global project setting for this IS selected.

you can right click on your P-trap and "select all" then un-check Use Annotation Scale in the properties box

I don't think so unfortunately. If you change the default instance value in the family it still gets overridden by the Mechanical Settings option.

However, you can force the fittings to never have the tickbox selected. Just edit the family and change the value of Use Annotation Scale to be 1=2. This could work for your use, however it will be locked like this!

You could use the formula mentioned above, but have it controlled by another parameter. For example, if you created an instance Yes/No parameter called "Annotation Scale Override", turned off by default, then you can set the formula in the "Use Annotation Scale" parameter to: "if(Annotation Scale Override, 1=1, 1=2)". The default action upon inserting the trap would be not to use the project annotation scale settings. Clicking the override button would change it over.
