    Question Creating Hyperlinks

    Hi Guys hoping some of you can advise me on what im looking for

    Im trying to create an interactive dwf map of an area. The main area covers a LARGE area at about 1:10000.
    I have created a 1:1250 box which now covers this area (approx 100 sheets) and i want to create a hyperlink associated with each box, which will in turn open a dwf file of said map.

    Now...the problem i have in creating the hyperlinks is that the hyperlink only covers the boundary of the box, is there a way to change it so that the user can click anywhere in the box to activate the hyperlink instead of the rectangle???

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi

    Below is one method -

    * Create a Hatch Layer, assign Colour 255 to this Layer.

    * Set Hatch Layer current.

    * BHatch command -> Pattern: "Dots" -> Scale: As best suits your requirements.

    * Apply the above Hatch pattern to the created 1:1250 boxes (one at a time)

    * Apply the relevant Hyperlink to the relevant Hatch pattern.

    * Create DWF file(s).

    By using Colour 255 and the "Dots" Hatch pattern, you should find it's almost impossible to see, therefore should prove a viable workaround option.

    Please refer to the following for some nice examples of Maps and DWFs -

    Cheers Mike but I already tried that option (2K5) but it doesnt seem to want me to associate the hatch pattern with a hyperlink. It does indicate that there is one attached when i tell it to remove the link, but holding the cursor over the hatch pattern doesnt give the hyperlink symbol, nor the [hold ctrl-click to view]

    any other ideas?

    Hi

    Works for me.

    The HyperLink cursor symbol only appears when the cursor passes over the actual dots that make up the "Dots" Hatch pattern (hence my comment "Scale: As best suits your requirements.")

    If need be I will post an example file tonight.

    Hi

    I agree, behaviour appears to have changed with AutoCAD 2005.

    Work -> AutoCAD 2002 -> No problem.

    Home -> AutoCAD 2005 -> Hyperlink does attach to Hatch pattern, but HyperLink cursor symbol does not display when passing over Hatch pattern

    Please find attached a simple test DWG file (AutoCAD 2005) & DWF file (Warning - I probably should have made the "Dots" Hatch pattern Scale smaller for this exercise, but it should be good enough to demonstrate the principle).

    DWG file: 4 simple boxes; 4 simple "Dots" Hatch pattern applied to each box; 4 Hyperlinks (a different one applied to each Hatch pattern and its associated box).

    Pre-Select one of the "Dots" Hatch pattern -> Right click -> From pop-up menu, choose "Hyperlink" -> Open <URL Here>.

    DWF file: Created from above DWG file -> Hyperlink tooltip should pop-up as you move over "Dots".

    Have a good one, Mike

    nice on mike, I have been trying to get it to do that all day yesterday!!! maybe its something to do with associative hatching? That is exactly what im trying to do!!

    I'll give it another whirl later on today. Many (manymany) thanks for the input!!

    *EDIT*
    Mike,
    Just tried it there, works great...its definately to do with associative hatching and displaying the hyperlink.
    Ok next thing, what lineweight have you set for 255? as it doesnt show on your dwf?
    If i tell it not to plot that layer (obviously) it doesnt show the hyperlink. Do you think if i set if to 0 it would work?

    Hi

    When I get home tonight I will post the CTB file I used.

    Personally I wouldn't set it to Layer 0 (but that's just me).
