Default beam (joist) lineweight very thick and i dont know why

    Ladies and Gentlemen

I have some framing members that have a very very thick lineweight when i view them in plan. Their structural usage is set to "joist" along with a bit of other framing for the roof plan. The "joist" members that aren't from a specific family (I-Joist-Redbuilt Red-I90) all show the lineweight and properties for "joist" in object styles. For some reason the I-Joist_Redbuilt Red-I90 "joist" shows a different, very thick lineweight that I've only been able to change by overriding the graphics in view for those particular beams that are showing too thick. The other joists show a 10 lineweight which is not very thick. The thick beams look like a 15 or 16 and I dont see any high values for any type of beam lineweight in object styles.

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated!

Framing members have a structural usage parameter that corresponds to subcategories of Structural Framing. There are Girder, Joist, Purlin and Other. When you sketch them the default setting is automatic which is determined by what the framing connects to. A beam having a column to column connection results in a Girder for example. A beam to beam is a Joist and Joist to Joist is a Purlin. A purlin to purlin is Other.

Check the Object Styles for each subcategory and if they seem okay take a look at the Visibility/Graphics of the view.

If nothing else works, including all the V/G overrides and object styles, edit the family and see if the parameter "symbolic representation" isn't set to "From Family."

I am pretty sure if it is, then it really won't matter what you do with object styles, which can be pretty frustrating.
