    Default Mixed units when referencing

I have searched high and low. I have not found a solution, merely people with old "rules of thumb".

I have a situation where our structural team is getting civil drawings from the civil team for their location sheets. The structural template is set to inches (that's the world they live in) and the civil is in feet. What crazy, hidden drawing setting do I have to manipulate to get this work? Everyone is using Civil 3D. I cannot believe that AutoCAD is incapable of making this work without a foot template file for the structural team.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
