    Default home tab

I was wondering if there is a setting or toggle somewhere that controls the selection/switching of tabs.

the issue is this, if i'm in paper space with the home tab selected and i double click of type ms to enter floating model space, then double click or type ps to go back to paper space
the tab selection goes the the furthest one to the right.

is there a way to make it remain on what was selected prior to the action.

Sounds like the "Layout Tools" contextual tab is popping up for you.

Here is what I do: Stop “Layout Tools” contextual tab from appearing..

If you might want to use them some other time set the contextual tab to "Full without focus". This adds the tab, but does not make it current so it remain on the tab selected prior to the action. I do this with Heterogeneous Selection as well.
