I am running an HP Compaq, Intel (R) Pentium (R) 4, 2.5 GHz with 2 GB RAM. Microsoft Windows XP, Professional Version 2002, Service Pack 1.

I am using Revit 5.1 (build number 20030716_1400).

Currently working on a small Revit database (4MB).

The problem: at apparently random intervals, having done some work in the file, my local copy will "fail to save", when attempting to save local and save central. This then forces me to create a new local copy until it fails to save again. Since I have worked on this file using a different computer (slower and less memory) for more than a week without this problem ocurring, I tend to think it has something to do with the hardware. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I asume your central file is on a server? If so then your problem is most likely to be network related and not Revit of workstation related. What is your network configuration? Network type? Novell? Windows?

Are there any errors in the Windows network event log?

Yes, central file is on the server, local file on the desktop. We have checked the event viewer at the server and saw nothing significant. Apparently my computer is suffering from Event ID 1517 and 1524. According to Microsoft, I don't have room to write further information into the registry. I have all the rights I need and Windows XP is supposed to allow the registry to grow as it needs to.
