Ceiling beams not showing under roof

Im pretty new at this but anyway after awhile of searching I made a roof and I was trying to show exposed 8X12 timber beams underneath it. now if you look at the pic you can see by the dotted lines that I was able to install the beam but they are not showing themselves in any view. Please help before I launch my computer out a window.

Unfortunately, you are getting into complex Revit concepts already. If the family has a detail line as the Coarse view representation, then it won't show when the beams are sloped. Detail lines only show in parallel views.

To change this behavior, do the following:
-Select the beam in the project, and the click "Edit Family" on the Ribbon.
-In the "Properties" panel on the "Create" ribbon, choose the "Family Category and Parameters" command (the button with the little yellow folder)
-In the bottom half of the "Family Category and Parameters" dialog, look for the "Symbolic Representation" property, and make sure it is set to "From Project Settings"
-Load the family into the project and close it, overwriting the existing one.
