Question AutoCAD MEP: Block issue, I'm assuming.

    Hello All,

Bear with me while I try to explain my situation.......

I am not sure if my title is correct because I have never had this issue with a DWG file like this!

This DWG shows four typical hotel rooms for a hotel. Electrical contract drawing

I open up a DWG and paper space looks great.
    - In paper space the background is grey.
    - Symbols are to scale.
    - Limited color exposed

I open up model space and I notice a 180 degree difference.
    - All four rooms are in color
    - No grey background
    - Each room seems to be a block
    - Electrical symbols are not to scale
    - I can explode everything
    - Walls and electrical symbols are in 3D

What I am trying to accomplish is.....
    - Get the electrical symbols to scale.

    What I have figured out.
    - I might need a LISP (I don't know how to use a LISP)
    - Flatten doesn't work
    - Scale doesn't work.
    - I'm trying to avoid exploding everything and re scaling all electrical symbols.

I will do my best to answer all questions to my best ability.

Will attaching the DWG I'm having trouble with help?

    Thank you,
    Justin

from the description, layer colors have been over-ridden in the layout viewports. To check, double click inside a viewport, then run the LAYER command. The dialog should show the over-ridden layers with a pale blue background.

As for the rest, it sound like the electrical symbols are set up using annotative blocks, Simply add the additional annotative scales to the symbols, and use the annotative scale tool to set the annoscale you want in modelspace.

And yes, posting the drawing would help us figure out exactly what it is you're looking at.

    Cadtag,

Thank you for the info. I'll give it a try! I have attached the DWG file. Hopefully I attached it correctly.

    Thank you,
    Justin

2 MB limit. I had to resize the DWG file. It should be attached now.

    Thank you

With the layout viewport active that has the plans in it, open the Layer Manager and notice that the VP Color is different than the Color column. Someone intentionally changed the walls to print black instead of color. I would assume so that certain lines stood out.

when you are in model space, change your annotation scale to 3/8" = 1' to match the viewport scale.
