Default Create Small NWD From Viewpoint

Is it possible to create a simple nwd based on a viewpoint? That is, I don't want to generate the entire model and all the viewpoints. I want an nwd that only contains what is visible in the viewpoint. Or is something like this better served by a dwf?

We use a Navisworks plugin called iConstruct to accomplish something similar to this (specifically the "Reconstruct" tool). With that tool you have a lot of options as to how you create the new NWD, including reconstructing the hierarchy of the selection tree. Another nice thing is that you can utilize section cuts... the resulting NWD will not import the entire object, but will respect the section cut boundary. Saved view is not one of the options for selecting which objects get exported into the new NWD... but rather selection, everything or visible. You could hide what you don't want to see, save the view and then "reconstruct" and it would have the same effect.

There's more to iConstruct than just this feature, but this is the one closest to what it sounded like you wanted to accomplish.

    Hello Anthony!
You could try this (SwitchBack variant with Revit):
    1. In desired viewpoint select elements which are of interest for you.
    2. Right click on selected elements, than go SwitchBack. Before that change Perspective to Orthogonal view.
    3. In Revit you will get elements selected. Click on Selection box command and you will get 3D section of the desired place in the model. Adjust section box size.
    4. Export that view to NWC and import in Navisworks. That way you will get part of the model, containing selected elements from p. 1.

    Too many clicks, i agree.

one method I use is this:
    1, select objects
    2, hide unselected
    3, export fbx
    4, open fbx in Navis

This still exports the whole model
