Default How to grey-out everything in a linked file

When I link in a revit file I want everything to grey out. Right now if i'm in a plumbing view then everything except plumbing will grey out from the linked file. I want the linked file plumbing to grey out. This way I can then detail in plumbing on top of the architectural model with all of the linked file being grey and in the background.

By grey out, do you mean halftone?

If so, go to visibility graphics override. (VV on keyboard) Go to the Revit links tab and then on the link you should see "halftone" checkbox as an option. Check it and let me know if that solves your issue.

Yes that gives me the results I want for that view. But I would like to make it half tone in every view. I could accomplish this with view filters but i was hoping there was a global halftone setting for linked files.

You could also apply that to your view templates, and so all views using those templates will have halftone links.
I highly recommend using view templates for each type of view you use, easier to control them in groups.
